In addition to exposing lovely old boards, lots of crazy wiring, and a surprisingly low number of dead animals, the demolition process revealed a major structural issue.
Specifically: most of the weight of the attic was being held up by a sketchy-looking post, a pile of blocks, a single floor joist and a whole mess of spray foam.
